Staying Healthy While Traveling

We are getting ready to head out of town for some international travel- can’t wait! YAY! But….traveling with an infant….oh man. I’ve never been so prepared in my life. The biggest challenge I have ahead is; how, do we not get sick on the airplane and in our case the cruise line. So, without further ado…here are a few things that I am doing to get us in tip top shape to travel.

1. Thieves- I’ve mentioned it a million times- I am taking my diffuser for the room, rubbing thieves on a cotton ball to put with us on the plane and carrying our little 5 ml bottle with us for airplane travel. We also use the thieves toothpaste so we are getting a daily dose when brushing our teeth as well.

2. Probiotics- we have all beefed up on these. I am taking an extra dose a day as well as giving E some daily with his solids. These are awesome- found a liquid form at Sprouts I love that is mixed with coconut water and uses Stevia so it doesn’t raise your blood sugar levels. So many great things about this product- and the best part is it’s $10 for 30 servings! We are raising our intake because the two biggest areas of susceptibility are our mucous membranes and our gut. Increasing the good bacteria in our gut; raises our ability to fight off infections.

3. Vitamin C- we are increasing our vit. C a few days before we leave so that we have adequate amounts to fight off infection while we are away- we will continue taking this while gone and then back off (other than what is in our daily supplements) so that when sick it is more effective

4. Eating Healthy- While we are not perfect we are trying to stay away from excess sugar and eat clean fruits, veggies, and proteins- giving our bodies the best ability to fight off whatever we may encounter

There are so many things you can do to keep you and your loved ones healthy. It does not guarantee we will not get sick- but hopefully whatever germs we run into will be short lived if any since our bodies are in best working condition before leaving. As far as traveling with a baby, the best thing you can do if nurse. If you’re baby is still nursing that is the biggest dose of antibodies they can get every few hours. Honestly, we should be more worried about ourselves than  them; as they have this amazing God-given immune booster every few hours. A friend recently told me that when we kiss our babies hands our body develops the antibodies to fight off whatever germs are on their hands. Amazing.

So if traveling here are a few things you can do to get your bodies in tip top shape to fight off all of those germs. But don’t let it consume you. Do what you can and then leave the rest up to God and enjoy your time away!

You’ve heard me say this a million times. You can’t just do one thing and expect it to work. We are holistic people and keeping ourselves healthy requires many different things. So take the plung and begin the journey to keeping you and your family healthy!
